Strategies & Tactics of Patrol Stops (S.T.O.P.S)

Strategies and Tactics Of Patrol Stops (STOPS) are designed to do just that. Using principles proven and instructed at many State Law Enforcement Academies, the STOPS program will give your patrol officers the tactics and know-how needed to safely conduct vehicle traffic stops, reduce department liability and officer complaints, and teach necessary survival from both vehicular and felonious assaults.

Pressure Point Control Tacts (PPCT)

Those attending this course will be instructed in the Use of Force Continuum adopted by Law Enforcement agencies worldwide. The officer will be required to be fluent in suspect resistance and the appropriate control levels as listed in the Use of Force Continuum. This course will teach various types of submission holds, escort positions, arm bars, joint locks, takedown maneuvers, strikes, kicks, and handcuffing techniques.

Threat Assessment | Verbal Conflict Resolution

The program addresses the problem of threats of violence in the various settings such as businesses, schools and places of worship. The goal of the program is to better equip administrators and staff of these locations to assess potential threats when they are received and to use behavioral signposts to help confirm the seriousness of the threat. The program also helps staff de-escalate a potential conflict by effectively communicating with the subject until help arrives. This program follows a guide developed by the United States Department of Justice.

Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST)

Students will be instructed on the twenty cues of OWI detection as researched and documented by several national studies during the past thirty years. Students will also be instructed in the proper application of state laws regarding Operating While Intoxicated offences. Students will be certified in the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and the One Leg Stand exercises. Students will earn techniques to determine signs of intoxication, and the proper methods of articulating the cues observed. Students will demonstrate the tests on 'live' intoxicated test subjects. Students will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the application of the standardized tests, and to successfully complete a written examination.
